got this off eBay for about 50% off retail price, still expensive (compared to sticks and stones like we used to play with) but oh well. she loves this, especially the "Peekaboo, I love you" sound :)
she's slowly getting over it, though! the only thing she really loves is her long purple ribbon and taking things OUT of boxes and bags.

Hannah eating yoghurt! She doesn't really like it. And we need to get more. But will get in Canada. She needs more fruit. She loves fruit. Loves loves loves watermelon :)

Peter Callesen has created some AWESOME work from just paper! It's an amazing array of very detailed and painstaking scissors and paper action. I love this stuff! I'd buy it in a second if it was available for sale and doesn't cost an arm and leg.
You HAVE to check out his work. I can't get over the detail.

you know how certain perfume remind us of memories and people?
Christopher Brosius has an interesting way of looking at smells and memories. if you want to smell what winter in 1972 was like, he's the guy to go to. or the smell of snow, or autumn or burning leaves, or the library!
Christopher definitely goes all out to create "real" scents! i'm keen to try "Candle of Light", which apparently uses real floral oils of white flowers: narcissus, jonquils, jasmines, white lotus and tuberose. didn't know white lotus had a smell! not cheap though, his scents. costs him $17,000 to get a kilo of narcissus!
must hunt his scents down while in canada!

I wonder what Christmas Day 2006 would have smelled like for me? Ben and Annie's kitchen?

now we move on from food and fun to evaluate our 2006. man has it ever been a year for us! a lovely addition to our small family, a big move, change in scenes...
for 2007 there are changes for us too, happening rather soon! in a few days we fly off to canada! only for an 8-week work stint with andrew's co, but given how things go over there, there might be a possibility of us staying for up to a year!
exciting.
but we go along with this with our Saviour, our Sovereign Lord, our Perfect Lamb.
we are so aware of our shortcomings, our failings, our shortsightedness. and more aware of His grace, His mercy and His great love.
onward 2007

Rosemarie Coggins is an EXCELLENT artist who draws animals with just familiarity that you know she's spent heaps of time with them. This is one of them. (Prints might be available, pricing, contact me)
Lily is an adorable rat with hair (as opposed to fur). She's grey, and very lovable. Not my favourite of pets since it's a ... rodent. But still!

Round Robin Press has got these really adorable cards. Of birds and flowrs and trees.
Perfect gift for the avid gardener, these cards are EMBEDDED WITH SEEDS! Meaning, you get the card, you read it and then you toss it in the garden and water the card! Soon you'll get chives! Hehehe a great idea!

Labels: stationery
O Plus D have these cards. They're not for the faint hearted... or the polite folk...
I love how the
design is so pretty and then you get hit with the naughty messages... not what I'd send or buy for myself, but I do love the designs!

just thought i'd share a site of one of my friends who has done some beautiful photography, local and overseas.
Rowan Hilsden has taken some really Ken-Duncan-like shots of nature and now available for sale. MUCH less than Ken Duncan's work! trust me, i've been to Duncan's gallery near Newcastle in NSW and the dream one I want is $1500. so.

while driving back to melbourne from spending a week at my in laws for christmas (yes it's an early one due to our work visit to canada early jan) i pondered Christmas.
we all celebrate christmas for various reasons...
i wish my christmases had less
-gifts
-carols
-santas
-food
-traffic jams
-shopping chaos
-debt
-tradition
because when it comes down to it.... The day Jesus was born is significant only because we finally have access to a personal God via a personal relationship.
If I forget to send across warm greetings, here's to another 365 days of a personal relationship with the God of Creation.

this is quite a good idea! the

I have a friend. he loves to move around, change scenery. he make these decisions that make me envious of the freedom he's got. buy apartments, sell them, move with friends, change jobs, move interstate..
he should get furniture that packs into his car!
these things pack into straight and flat boxes. computer workstation, dining table, chair, stools etc.
pretty smart.

recently we made the decision to eject ourselves from a loved community, believing that we needed another commune with similar others. we found a community where we found alikes. but when i visit my friends' blogs and look at pretty pictures, i realise just how much that old community is a part of my life. i miss it. i miss it terribly.
but while i realise i miss it so much that part of me wants to inject myself back into this so-cherished community, i also come to realise how different a stage i am in, how different the paths i've chosen to walk, from members of this community.
events within this community continues to dot my loved ones' journeys like orange paper lanterns at night on an invisible string. photos go up on blogs. and i miss it.
but i think i've moved one. yet i miss it. i miss being in the midst of communal celebrations.
congrats to the newly married, congrats to the newly graduated. i miss you.

here's an idea! (someone's done it of course) you know how when you drink coffee or tea and it leaks down the side of the cup? well, instead of leaving irritating half rings on the paper or book or newspaper or tablecloth, turn it into
pretty swirls!!

nice. while slightly unnerving... potentially de-stressing! imagine the arrogant boss, the annoying in law, the noisy neighbour...

$90 for the
set. nah. until we profit $2 million a year, we'll just stick with the plastic version.

went to do some christmas shopping along trendy essendon north shops along mt alexander road in melbourne, australia. i love this one shop i pass daily on my walk with bubba.
annie runs
La Dee Dah, a skincare, makeup, perfume, homewares and bags little shop. it is simply sumptious and has the best stuff. if not for an impatient bubba, i could spend hours and hours there, gazing at the wanna-haves! here are a few items on annie's shelves:
Gloriously packaged Australian line of skincare,
MOR (Pictured is the chic Soapettes box with six different coloured soaps, ideal for guest bathrooms). Their website is glorious too!

Annie's got these absolutely to die for Lace and Leather Belts. Black lace on cream leather, this is a Peter Lang creation, also another Australian designer. A cool $80. (picture to come)
Along with the blace lace theme is a velvet flocked picture frame I love. So chic... black and white. Can't beat that for style and uniqueness! (picture to come)
Annie loves all things French and English and it is so chic! One of her treasures is the Les Petits Chocolats, a candle collection that smells and looks like chocolate truffles! Made by
véronique paris™
I love these cards-and-envelope boxed sets. By
Roger La Borde, these cards are unique in that they are not the bi-fold type you find in gift and stationery stores. This one is tri-fold. The design is chic as well, materials are quality ones! $24 per box.

Other finds in La Dee Dah:
Amy Allen's "This Little Piggy Went to Prada: Nursery Rhymes for the Blahnik Brigade" is a great Christmas gift for the fashion conscious new mother. Popular bedtime fairytales and rhymes re-written to suit the serious fashionista. Eun-Kyung Kung peppers the pages with her lush watercolour images. Oooh I love!

The classic chic manual Style by Kate Spade. Only one copy in La Dee Dah! A must for the fashionista above, mother or not! Mmmmmm.

i'd like this. i normally like my walls to be monotone and pictures artfully and quirkily hung. but this is really growing on me! would not be one for everyroom, but would be nice to have it in a child's room or the home office.

hey aggie, this is one for you! almost makes me want a cat. (except i'm highly allergic to them)
make from cardboard, this is the sexiest looking home for a cat. keeps them warm during winter and ... coolish for the summer! plus when it gets too shabby looking, just throw it out and replace it.
(of course, replacing a $290
cat home every week is going to become costly!!!)

this australian designer took "baby high chair" to another
level
Meant for 6 months - 6 years this is such a cool, baby-friendly, wash-friendly high chair! The super-easy-to-clean tray removes and the stand shortens to become a cool chair!

i had sworn off cherries because the glazed type was disgusting. but today we went cherry picking (but the cherry trees were picked out) and bought a few punnets of cherries, boysenberries and raspberries.
skeptically i bit into a freshly picked cherry. expecting to have this sickeningly sweet sticky taste. but it was fresh! like fresh plums!!
verdict: fresh cherries are YUM! but not alot at once. i must say. i'd rather spend time mushroom picking if it costs money!!!
how cute are
these! Very nice idea. Esp if you know how i love kiss-clasps!!
so why is christmas so... difficult to get by without thinking about presents and getting? i'd like not to think or worry about giving and getting for once. not even a dinner. not even a brunch. just being.
for once i'd like my christmas to be spent:
remembering Christ birth, and more importantly, triumphing over Death at the cross
listening to a few choice hymns
being able to reconcile a tumultous relationship
rebuild trust
rekindle old interests
reconnect with an old friend over hot chocolate and warm slippers
walk along the beach with my daughter and husband with no thought to lunches, gifts, travelling etc.
just being.
